We are so incredibly fortunate to be born in a country that is able to support it’s citizens. It may not be perfect, but it is a world away from other parts of the planet that barely have the means to feed and water themselves. This is not a plight that is new, this has been going on for many, many years. We must all do our best to improve the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves. We must all do our best to make the world a better place.
One company that is doing this and then some is Mary’s Meals. A fantastic example of a group of people trying to make a difference to those less fortunate. Mary’s Meals vision is simple:
Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.
Working together with those who share our vision, we believe there is no good reason why this cannot be realised. (Mary’s Meals website 2017)
This is an amazing cause that our team, here at Direct-ED, wanted to help out. Every year we have surplus stock or returns from customers that order incorrectly or changed their minds. We hate waste (even if it is recycled), and so we do our very best to donate these books to charities across the UK. This year we partnered with Mary’s Meals in a way that will see a consistent flow of exercise books heading out in backpacks to the children they feed in schools across the globe.
Joe Mugan, Marketing Director, said “the opportunity came up during a discussion with one of our employees who had a personal connection with the charity. When I realised what we could offer it was an easy decision to start this steady donation of books. Mary’s Meals do a fantastic job feeding children in schools around the world and if we can do anything to help their work then it would be great.”
